VR/AR Headset Battery Requirements

Generally, both VR and AR headsets use lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries due to their high energy density, long life, and relatively lightweight characteristics.

VR headsets are more likely to use internal batteries due to the need for wireless freedom and a streamlined user experience in gaming and entertainment. The trade-off is shorter battery life and the need for careful weight and heat management. Capacities of batteries can vary but often range from 1,000mAh to 3,500mA.

AR headsets are increasingly using external batteries to support longer usage times, particularly in professional and industrial applications where extended sessions and comfort are paramount. The external design allows for greater flexibility, larger battery capacity, and reduced heat within the headset. Capacities of batteries can range from 5,000mAh to 10,000mAh or higher.

Fast charging: These battery types can be charged relatively quickly, allowing for convenient recharging between uses.

  • Grepow offers a range of shaped pouch batteries that are perfectly suited to various terminal device shapes. We provide custom shaped Lithium-Ion pouch batteries as thin as 0.5mm and as narrow as 4.1mm. Available shapes include cruved, round, L-shaped, D-shaped, and C-shaped, ect. Grepow's shaped pouch batteries boast excellent performance and a cycle life of over 1000 cycles, operating within a temperature range of -50°C to 50°C / -40°C to 60°C, and can achieve fast charging at up to 5C.

  • Grepow NMC 811 semi-solid state battery uses a stacked-sheet pouch cell process, the NMC (Ni-Mn-Co) cathode composition with 80% nickel, 10% manganese, and 10% cobalt. This recipe technology is to significantly break the energy density of existing lipo batteries, which the highest energy density is 350wh/kg. The capacity Retention can stay more than 90% after 600 cycles and the dynamic voltage imbalance is less than 100 mV.
