Grepow has introduced two new high-discharge lithium iron phosphate batteries designed for lead-acid replacement applications: the LFP12-45 12.8V 45Ah 500A and the LFP24-22 25.6V 22Ah 400A.

The two models cover widely used 12V and 24V electrical platforms while combining high-current output, LiFePO4 chemistry, integrated battery management, and smart monitoring. They are designed for applications where a conventional Lead Acid Replacement Battery must provide more than backup energy alone, especially systems involving engine starting, motor loads, inverters, pumps, or other equipment with demanding surge current.

Rather than focusing only on capacity, Grepow developed these batteries around the actual power requirements of industrial and commercial equipment, expanding the use of LiFePO4 into applications that require both energy and high discharge capability.

Why High-Discharge Capability Matters in Lead-Acid Replacement

Lead-acid batteries remain common in industrial equipment, standby power, engine starting, security systems, and other 12V and 24V applications. Their established voltage platforms and broad compatibility make them familiar to system designers.

However, replacing a lead-acid battery is not simply a matter of matching voltage and amp-hour capacity.

Some equipment operates at a relatively low and stable current, while other systems experience substantial short-duration loads during startup or operation. Diesel engines, electric motors, hydraulic pumps, actuators, high-power inverters, and similar loads can all create current peaks significantly above their normal operating current.

For these applications, battery selection should consider:

  • Nominal system voltage

  • Required energy and operating time

  • Continuous discharge current

  • Peak current and peak duration

  • Voltage drop under load

  • Operating temperature

  • Charging-system compatibility

  • Battery protection and monitoring

  • Installation space and connection requirements

This is where a High-Discharge LiFePO4 Lead Acid Replacement solution becomes especially relevant. The objective is not simply to replace the chemistry, but to provide a battery platform capable of supporting the real electrical behavior of the equipment.

Two Battery Platforms for 12V and 24V Systems

The new Grepow range includes two voltage platforms for different system architectures.

ModelNominal VoltageCapacityEnergyContinuous DischargePeak Discharge
LFP12-4512.8V45Ah576Wh500AUp to 1800A
LFP24-2225.6V22Ah563.2Wh400AUp to 1700A

The LFP12-45 12.8V 45Ah battery provides 576Wh of energy with 500A continuous discharge and up to 1800A peak current. Its discharge temperature range extends from -40°C to 75°C.

The LFP24-22 25.6V 22Ah battery provides 563.2Wh with 400A continuous discharge and up to 1700A peak current, with a specified discharge temperature range of -20°C to 75°C.

Both batteries use an integrated BMS with protection functions covering overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, short circuit, cell balancing, and temperature. Bluetooth connectivity also enables local monitoring of parameters such as voltage, state of charge, current, and temperature.

LFP12-45: High-Current Power for 12V Equipment

The LFP12-45 12.8V 45Ah High-Discharge LiFePO4 Lead Acid Replacement Battery is designed for equipment based on a 12V electrical architecture but requiring substantially higher current capability than a typical standby battery.

With 500A continuous discharge and up to 1800A peak current, the battery can be evaluated for applications such as:

  • Standby generator and industrial engine starting

  • Construction and off-highway equipment

  • Mobile industrial equipment

  • Hydraulic and motor-driven systems

  • High-power 12V DC backup systems

  • Inverter-backed equipment

  • Powered access and security equipment

  • Remote and mobile power systems

Its high-current capability can be particularly useful where motor startup, engine cranking, inverter surge, or actuator operation creates a sharp increase in power demand.

At the same time, its 576Wh capacity allows the battery to support applications that require both short-term power delivery and meaningful stored energy.

LFP24-22: Native 24V Power for Industrial Systems

Many industrial machines, control systems, commercial vehicles, powered access systems, and larger backup installations use a 24V electrical architecture.

For these applications, Grepow developed the LFP24-22 25.6V 22Ah High-Discharge LiFePO4 Lead Acid Replacement Battery as a native 24V-class solution.

The battery delivers 400A continuous discharge and up to 1700A peak current, making it suitable for evaluation in applications including:

  • 24V industrial engine and generator starting

  • Construction and off-highway equipment

  • Powered gates, barriers, and access systems

  • Hydraulic pumps and DC motor systems

  • Industrial control and backup power

  • High-power DC UPS applications

  • Inverter-supported equipment

  • Centralized security and communications backup systems

A native 25.6V battery platform can also simplify integration in compatible 24V systems compared with solutions that rely on multiple independently managed 12V batteries.

The LFP24-22 supports configurations up to 2S10P and system voltages up to 48V, while the LFP12-45 supports configurations up to 4S10P and up to 48V, providing additional flexibility for system designers working across different voltage and capacity requirements.

From Backup Energy to High-Power Operation

One of the key changes in the lead-acid replacement market is that battery requirements increasingly vary by load profile.

A small alarm panel, for example, primarily requires dependable standby runtime. A remote monitoring system may place greater emphasis on repeated cycling. An inverter, hydraulic pump, engine starter, powered gate, or industrial motor may instead create much higher short-duration current.

These systems should not be treated as the same battery application simply because they use the same nominal voltage.

For high-power equipment, the battery must maintain an appropriate voltage while delivering the required current. Excessive voltage sag during startup can cause motors, controllers, relays, or other electrical components to shut down even when the battery still has sufficient nominal capacity.

Grepow's new 12V and 24V products therefore extend its Lead Acid Replacement Battery portfolio toward equipment where surge power, stable output, and battery monitoring are important parts of the system design.

LiFePO4 Replacement Requires System-Level Verification

Although LiFePO4 batteries can provide several advantages over conventional lead-acid batteries, replacement should still be evaluated at the system level.

A battery with the same nominal voltage or similar capacity is not automatically a drop-in replacement for every lead-acid installation.

Before changing battery chemistry, engineers should verify:

  • Charger voltage and charging profile

  • Maximum charging current

  • Continuous and peak load current

  • Peak-current duration

  • Low-voltage cutoff behavior

  • Existing battery monitoring or supervision logic

  • Physical dimensions and mounting method

  • Terminal type and cable specifications

  • Operating and storage temperature

  • Applicable transportation, certification, and system-level regulatory requirements

This is especially important in industrial, backup-power, medical, security, and engine-starting applications where the battery operates as part of a larger electrical system.

The correct approach is therefore to match the battery to the equipment's actual power profile rather than choosing solely by voltage and Ah rating.

Expanding Grepow's Lead Acid Replacement Battery Portfolio

With the launch of the LFP12-45 and LFP24-22, Grepow now provides high-discharge LiFePO4 solutions across both common 12V and 24V platforms.

The two batteries are intended to support customers developing equipment that needs a combination of stored energy, high-current capability, battery protection, and intelligent monitoring.

Beyond standard battery models, Grepow also provides OEM and ODM battery development services for applications requiring different capacities, electrical specifications, communication functions, mechanical structures, connectors, BMS configurations, or system integration requirements.

As more industrial equipment moves toward intelligent monitoring, electrification, and lower-maintenance power systems, lead-acid replacement is becoming less about simply changing battery chemistry and more about selecting a power system that matches the actual operating conditions of the equipment.

For high-power 12V and 24V applications, the LFP12-45 and LFP24-22 provide two new reference platforms for developing the next generation of LiFePO4 lead-acid replacement solutions.
